Dr. Nicholas Hicks - Biography

Director of NHS Support

Dr Nicholas Hicks was appointed Director of NHS Support at the National Coordinating Centre for Health Technology Assessment in 2007.

Before joining NCCHTA in 2005 as a Senior Lecturer and Consultant in Public Health Medicine, he had 10 years’ experience as a consultant in public health and then Director of Public Health for East Hampshire Primary Care Trust.

In his earlier career he trained in General Practice and spent some time working in Canada.

Nick’s key areas of interest are the identification of new topics of importance to the NHS for HTA research, understanding the HTA of diagnostic technologies, developing working relationships with external organisations such as the National Screening Committee and NICE and raising awareness of the work of the HTA programme both in the NHS and internationally.
