The NIHR provides specific support to help researchers develop and design high quality research proposals through the NIHR Research Design Service and through the involvement of Clinical Trials Units in your research.

Researchers based in England seeking help in developing their research proposals for submission to NIHR funding streams or other national bodies may wish to contact their local NIHR Research Design Service (RDS).

Clinical Trials Units

NETSCC regard Clinical Trials Units (CTUs) as an important component of any research application. CTUs can advise and participate throughout the research process, from initial idea development through to project delivery and reporting.  Researchers are strongly encouraged to contact a CTU early in the process of developing research ideas and preparing funding applications.

The UKCRC Registered Clinical Trials Units (CTUs) website allows potential collaborators, both in academia and industry, to obtain up to date information on CTUs that can help design and run high quality trials.

Note: Whilst we encourage applicants to involve a CTU, this need not necessarily be a UKCRC-registered CTU or one in receipt of a NIHR CTU support funding award
