Study on in-patient staff morale published

A paper based on a study funded by the NIHR Health Services and Delivery Research Programme has published in Springer’s Journal of Business Ethics .

Original research focused on the morale of staff working on in-patient mental health wards.  The Journal of Business Ethics further analysed data from the study, focusing particularly on the effect of workplace discrimination and aggression on staff well-being.

The journal used the study to test the differential power and organisational justice theories of workplace aggression.  The article concluded that discrimination from certain groups was felt to be more unfair than others, and this is an important factor in explaining the varying effects on staff well-being.

The HS&DR Programme is funding a further three research projects in secondary mental health care.
