Editorial review arrangements for all other projects
You are probably aware that from January 2012, the NIHR Health Services Research (NIHR HSR) Programme and the NIHR Service Delivery and Organisation (NIHR SDO) Programme was merged to form the new NIHR Health Services and Delivery Research (NIHR HS&DR) Programme.
In May 2013, the NIHR launched a group of new publications, building on the success of the Health Technology Assessment journal, within a new 'NIHR Journals Library'. This online peer-reviewed library includes a new journal – the NIHR Health Services and Delivery Research (HS&DR) journal - to publish and archive all comprehensive reports that have been approved for publication after a rigorous editorial process managed by the NETSCC editorial office (NIHR Journals Library).
If your project meets any of the criteria below your project will submit its final report under the auspices of the HS&DR Programme:
Originally funded by the NIHR HSR Programme.
Originally funded by the NIHR SDO Programme and due to submit its final report on or after 1 July 2012
Funded by the NIHR HS&DR Programme.
Further background information about the new NIHR Journals Library is available on the website, along with a Resources for authors guide and other essential documentation that you will need to complete when submitting your report.
The Resources for authors guide contains a wealth of advice and information on subjects including formatting, processes, timelines and publication policies (dual publication, copyright, transparency etc.). There is also a section at the back of the guide containing useful web references.
Approximately six months before your draft final report is due to be submitted, the NETSCC-HS&DR team will send you an email with links to the most recent version of the Resource for authors and other template documentation.
Approximately three months before your draft final report is due to be submitted we will contact you to confirm arrangements for its submission, ensure you have access to the documentation you require. You will be asked to confirm that you are currently on track to submit your report on time.
It is important that you notify us if you are not on track because at the three months to go point the NIHR Journals Library editorial office will appoint the Editor and external reviewers for your report and will provide them with the timeframe for receiving and reviewing the report.
In the months prior to report submission we will also ask you to suggest referees for the report and where possible a referee proposed by the authors is included amongst our selection.
