The HS&DR Programme aims to produce high quality research information that meets the needs of the NHS. To assure the quality of the research, we rely on the help of experts to review:

  • research and commissioning briefs
  • research proposals
  • final reports of research findings

Our community of reviewers play a vital part in maintaining and improving the quality of the HS&DR Programme projects and outputs. They are sought from a variety of fields, including from those who work in and use NHS services.

The programme operates a ‘closed' system of external review, in which reviewers' comments are sought and passed to internal reviewers in confidence, retaining the reviewers' anonymity.

The NIHR Health Services and Delivery Research (HS&DR) Programme is managed by the NIHR Evaluation, Trials and Studies Coordinating Centre (NETSCC). NETSCC is part of the University of Southampton funded by the NIHR, with specific contributions from the CSO in Scotland and NISCHR in Wales and the HSC R&D Division, Public Health Agency in Northern Ireland.
